Riddle Village, a lifecare retirement community, is seeking a full-time Dietary Manager to supervise the day to day functions of Healthcare & Assisted Living dining rooms and food-related activities.

About the Dietary Manager Position:

The Dietary Manager hired for this open position should be customer-service oriented and fit well into this type of culture.  In return, he or she will receive a competitive salary and excellent benefits. 

The full-time Dietary Manager is to supervise the day to day functions of Healthcare & Assisted Living dining rooms and food-related activities; coordinate the day to day production schedules of all diet aids, schedules diet aids within budget; maintains neat and orderly dining rooms & food pantries; responsible for completing accurate diet card information; maintaining food & service logs for each pantry; Maintains a nutritional problem log; Monitors weights for Monticello Skilled residents; attends resident care conferences; completes initial food likes and dislikes on  residents; completes daily production sheets for menus,- works closely with dietitian in all aspects of clinical service including specific resident record and Minimum Data Set documentation,  utilizes training program for all new personnel utilizes an on-going training program for existing personnel; coordinates with the Activities coordinator all functions which require food service personnel; works closely with the Monticello cooks to ensure that resident needs are met on skilled and personal care,  monitors staff morale and service continues to maintain at a high standard; maintains strong communication lines with nursing to ensure teamwork. Most importantly, handles customer complaints & criticisms in a positive, solution-oriented manner.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Ensures that initial food likes & dislikes are completed in a 48 hours period.
  • Maintains diet roster on a computerized system for each resident with all pertinent information regarding residents' diets.
  • Reviews meal service information with diet aides as well as schedule coverage for forthcoming meal service instructions and directions including the menu.
  • Inspects floor delivery of foods received for accuracy and quantity for regular and therapeutic diets. Monitors temperatures and portion sizes. Ensures food safety and palatability.
  • Monitors and assists in service throughout the course of dining to ensure that high standards are met.
  • Responsible for all diet aids to meet the required standard of attire. This includes a clean designated uniform and clean personal hygiene.
  • Completes production menus and generates to the main kitchen and all dining rooms prior to service.
  • After training on all floors, fills in as Diet aid or any other food-related position when
  • Answers questions that patients/family have concerning food and service to the best of his/her knowledge.
  • Holds monthly staff in-services and general meetings.
  • Reviews daily logbook in each pantry and records information concerning temperatures of foods, substitutions, taste & presentation of entrees, comments from patients & family members.
  • Contributes to evaluations of dietary aids by the due date.
  • Attends all in-service training programs.
  • With the assistance of the Assistant Director or Director, counsel's diet aids when necessary.
  • Attends weekly department meetings, and all facility-scheduled meetings.
  • Maintains the nutritional problem log and reports information to the dietitian.
  • Attends care conferences in absence of the dietitian
  • Ensures diet aids are adequately trained.
  • Promotes enthusiasm for Riddle Village
  • Responsible for coverage of all healthcare dining rooms.
  • Contributes to documentation requirements as set by this facility, Department of Health and other regulatory agencies.
  • Generates weekly supplement orders for the skilled and personal care units.


Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be kind, compassionate, and take an enthusiastic approach to work in a team environment in order to support the elderly.  He or she must be either a Certified Dietary Manager or hold a bachelor's in Dietetics. Must have a knowledge of dietetics & food nutrition, ability to supervise staff and develop high moral & teamwork.  Must have a willingness to learn and further skills.   In addition, this person should be proficient in the following:

  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to develop a rapport with residents, their families, and staff
